Mentos launched the Roll with It TV commercial, that put a new spin on the classic Freshmaker commercials. Mentos introduced the breath mints in three flavors: Peppermint, Wintergreen and Orangemint.
This uniquely strong and satisfying breath mint will take your breath away. Mentos went social by opening up a Facebook account. Since then Mentos social presence has continued to grow. With a variety of innovative mints and gum there is always the right product to experience the kiss of your life! Low surface tension also helps bubbles grow quickly. Measurements showed that the surface tension in water containing the sweetener aspartame is lower than in sugary water, explaining why Diet Coke creates more dramatic fountains than sugary Coke.
Another factor is that the coatings of Mentos contain gum arabic, a surfactant that further reduces surface tension in the liquid. Rough-surfaced mints without the surfactant did not create such large fountains. Mentos are also fairly dense and sink rapidly, quickly creating bubbles that seed further bubbles as they rise.
This first display used 10 two-liter bottles of Diet Coke and 60 Mentos. Holes drilled in the tops of the bottles created the first angled geysers. The live audience liked it a lot, so that got us thinking: just how big of a fountain display can we make?
We tried everything we could think of: drilling holes in the tops of the bottles, rolling the bottles down ramps, swinging them on ropes …. Then on April 29, , we gave it a try: over two-liter bottles of Diet Coke and over Mentos. Three minutes later, it had worked! We were elated, and now it was time to see what everyone else thought of our obsession. We told one person. He told some friends… They told some friends… Within hours, thousands of people were coming to see the video.
It was that quick. Thursday, the people who built the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas, which was our big inspiration for the choreography, called. It was completely overwhelming and exciting!
Now we were faced with doing it three times in twenty-four hours, and on national television! And we had just two chances to rehearse it all before going to New York. Still, with so much potential for disaster, we were a bit nervous. But both Letterman and the Today Show went off very smoothly and we had a blast, no pun intended.

Rough-surfaced mints without the surfactant did not create such large fountains. Mentos are also fairly dense and sink rapidly, quickly creating bubbles that seed further bubbles as they rise.
Crushed Mentos that fell more slowly created puny fountains that only travelled about 30 centimetres. We'll notify you here with news about. Turn on desktop notifications for breaking stories about interest?
